The announcement of the first space flight entirely financed by the DOGECOIN

The Canadian company "Geometric Energy", which will lead a mission to the moon, announced that SpaceX will launch a satellite to the moon next year with full funding from the cryptocurrency "Dogecoin", it said through its Twitter account , Sunday. 


The company, which is based in Calgary, Canada, said that the satellite, called "DOGE-1", will be launched on board the "Falcon 9" rocket of SpaceX in the first quarter of 2022.


The company stated that the cube satellite, which weighed 88 pounds (40 kg), would aim to obtain "spatial lunar intelligence information from onboard sensors and cameras."


And she confirmed that "the DOGE-1 mission to the moon" would constitute "the first commercial payload on the moon's surface ever in history to be paid in full with Dogecoin," without specifying the cost of the project.


"We are excited to launch DOGE-1 to the moon!" Said Tom Oceanero, Vice President of Commercial Sales at SpaceX, on Twitter .


"This mission will clarify the application of cryptocurrency outside the Earth's orbit and lay the foundation for interplanetary trade," he added.


The announcement comes the next day to host SpaceX founder Elon Musk for the "Saturday Night Live" program, where he promoted the cryptocurrency. 


The Tesla CEO also described cryptocurrencies as "an unstoppable medium that will take over the world."


And Musk celebrated the announcement of the lunar mission on Twitter, Sunday, saying, "To the moon, the moon!"
