An agreement between the Italian government and Stellantis on the carmaker's planned battery factory in Termoli, in the south of the country, will be signed very soon, Industry Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said. in an interview published Sunday.

"We are very close to signing the agreement for the 'gigafactory' in Termoli, where Stellantis will manufacture batteries, it's a matter of a few days," he said at the Corriere della Sera, without further details.

Stellantis had no comment.

The group resulting from the merger between PSA and Fiat announced last year its intention to build five “gigafactories” of batteries in Europe (in France, Germany, and Italy) and in North America.
