Trump Signals Possible Gradual End to US Military Operation Against Iran

U.S. president says Washington is nearing its objectives as the conflict enters its fourth week

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States is considering a “gradual end” to its military operation against Iran as the conflict enters its fourth week.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Washington believes it is close to achieving its objectives.

“We are getting very close to accomplishing our goals and are considering gradually ending our major military effort in the Middle East as it relates to Iran’s terrorist regime,” he wrote.

Trump added that responsibility for securing the Strait of Hormuz should fall on countries that depend on the route for trade and energy shipments.

“Other countries that use the Strait of Hormuz will have to protect and monitor it as needed, while the United States will not do that,” he said.

The president added that Washington could still assist if requested.

“If asked, we will help these countries in their efforts related to the Strait of Hormuz, but that will not be necessary once the Iranian threat has been eliminated,” Trump said.

The comments come as tensions in the region remain high, with growing concern about the impact of the conflict on maritime security and global energy supplies.
