Volodimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, accused several European companies of funding the war in his country indirectly by continuing to operate in Russia, citing Nestlé and Auchan as examples, in a statement deemed "surprising" by the French distributor.

Volodimir Zelensky, in a video released on Friday, calls for Europe to tighten sanctions against Russia and close its ports to Russian ships, while also urging businesses to contribute to Moscou's isolation.
"It is imperative that all Western companies exit the Russian market," he says, citing Nestlé and Auchan as examples.
This statement was deemed "at the very least very surprising" by an Auchan port-parole, who emphasized the presence of the French business on the Ukrainian market, where its "40 stores are open, under extremely difficult conditions."
He didn't want to say anything about Auchan's presence in Russia, on the other hand.
